In Cambodia, Khmer New Year is one of the grandest traditional festivals, and one of the largest national holidays. Khmer New Year is either on April 13th or 14th, depending on the “MohaSangkran,”. To celebrate the upcoming year, Cambodian citizens will go to pagodas to pray for prosperity and success. There will be a big gathering and events which will be full of fun activities such as dance performances and traditional games. Some of the popular traditional games in Cambodia are Teang Prot – Tug of War, Chab Kon Kleng, leak konseng, Sva donderm sleuk chheur, Bos Angkunh and Breaking Pot (Vai Korb)…etc. Playing Khmer traditional games provide a lot of benefits for our students such as making them better aware of Khmer folk games, which are inherited from ancient times, as well as helping them to love and preserve our culture too.
